[02:43:11] <ma1kel> cc
[02:43:21] <ma1kel> how old where you when you started hosting servers in 2002
[02:44:32] <ccfan4326> 15 i think
[02:44:50] <ma1kel> hmm
[02:44:54] <ma1kel> is that legal..
[02:45:29] <ma1kel> how did that came to be
[02:45:48] <GodP0w3r> It's legal if you promise not to play nude.
[02:46:13] <bmruze> i was 16 when I started playing :(
[02:46:48] <ma1kel> and now your all old
[02:46:52] <ccfan4326> i wasn't really into online gaming at all, then the ren demo came out and it was multiplayer only. i was into cnc games so i decided to try it out and really got into it
[02:47:08] <ma1kel> you hosted unserv on your cable?
[02:47:33] <ccfan4326> then i wanted to be cool and have my own server, so i started hosting a listen server initially
[02:47:43] <ccfan4326> was just called "ccfan's game" at that point
[02:48:13] <ma1kel> tell me more
[02:48:23] <ccfan4326> eventually i setup a dedicated server on another machine
[02:48:26] <ccfan4326> still on my cabl
[02:48:26] <ccfan4326> e
[02:48:33] <ma1kel> how did you meet wd and vlokt
[02:49:07] <ccfan4326> wd i met through cncu, a cnc fansite
[02:49:47] <ccfan4326> he also hung out in #ww which was like the unofficial westwood irc channel for a while
[02:50:25] <ma1kel> lol how old was he
[02:50:42] <ccfan4326> probably 12 or something heh
[02:50:51] <ma1kel> well he's 18 now amirite
[02:51:16] <ccfan4326> i can't remember exactly how i met vlokt
[02:51:21] <ccfan4326> or wait
[02:51:26] <ccfan4326> he was a friend of beany's
[02:51:29] <ccfan4326> that's right
[02:51:37] <ma1kel> and beanyhead..
[02:51:57] <ma1kel> wds 19
[02:52:00] <ccfan4326> yeah, i think he worked on cnchq with beanyhead or something
[02:52:24] <ccfan4326> at some point we setup an irc network with beanyhead
[02:52:42] <ccfan4326> ..that was half hosted on cable and dsl lines
[02:52:54] <ma1kel> netsplits much?
[02:53:00] <ccfan4326> indeed
[02:53:08] <ma1kel> haha
[02:53:09] <ccfan4326> and vlokt hung out there a bit
[02:53:23] <ccfan4326> we had our server channel on it and it went from there
[02:53:33] <ma1kel> and scrumfy
[02:53:50] <ccfan4326> scrumfy was uh
[02:53:56] <ccfan4326> i don't know where he came from
[02:54:06] <ccfan4326> but he was around at the beginning
[02:54:17] <ccfan4326> so we were just like hey what's up be an admin
[02:54:46] <ma1kel> and how did unserv came to be?
[02:55:33] <ccfan4326> lol
[02:55:54] <ma1kel> cmon
[02:55:54] <ccfan4326> well that fansite i mentioned, cncu, stood for cnc uprising
[02:56:13] <ccfan4326> and the webmaster wanted to expand and stuff and created uprising net
[02:56:30] <ccfan4326> at that point the server went by CC-Net
[02:56:51] <ma1kel> cnc-uprising.com ?
[02:57:09] <ccfan4326> not sure if it had the hyphen
[02:57:17] <ma1kel> http://planetcnc.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=24160
[02:57:18] <ccfan4326> but anyway
[02:57:26] <ccfan4326> khold decided to play in the server
[02:57:32] <ccfan4326> and was a douche or whatever
[02:57:35] <ccfan4326> and we kicked him
[02:57:38] <ccfan4326> and he ddos'd me
[02:57:42] <ccfan4326> and whatnot
[02:57:52] <ma1kel> lol
[02:57:59] <ccfan4326> and we were silly enough to think we could hide by changing the server name
[02:58:04] <ccfan4326> so we changed to UNServ
[02:58:08] <ma1kel> loll
[02:59:12] <ma1kel> so did you host unserv on cable?
[02:59:26] <ccfan4326> yeah, that was cable still
[02:59:48] <ma1kel> when did fx join
[03:00:01] <ccfan4326> UN ended up falling apart and stuff and the reasons we changed names didn't apply anymore
[03:00:12] <ccfan4326> so we decided to drop the UN name
[03:00:24] <ccfan4326> and ended up going with black-cell
[03:00:37] <ma1kel> when did you start with cnchq?
[03:00:38] <ccfan4326> and my cable server turned into bcserv 1
[03:00:42] <ma1kel> hanging around..
[03:01:04] <ccfan4326> then in uh, june 2003 i think, i rented my first dedicated server
[03:01:19] <ccfan4326> which became the 24 player bcserv4
[03:01:42] <ma1kel> where did you get the money from?
[03:02:57] <ccfan4326> i initially got my parents to rent it over the summer, which they may have partially done because i had a broken arm at the time
[03:03:12] <ccfan4326> then louis started donating to keep it up past that
[03:03:21] <ma1kel> when did you meet louis
[03:03:37] <ma1kel> this is all really interesting
[03:03:47] <ma1kel> should i copypaste this into a forum thread?
[03:03:55] <ma1kel> *shall
[03:04:00] <GodP0w3r> Are you writing a BC history book? lol :)
[03:04:22] <ccfan4326> louis started off as a regular in the server
[03:04:50] <ccfan4326> at some point we made him a vip and then he ended up coming on irc eventually
[03:04:57] <ccfan4326> and if you want sure
[03:05:33] <ccfan4326> then he became a mod and eventually an admin
[03:06:02] <ma1kel> where did you guys ban beanyhead for?
[03:06:10] <ma1kel> some shock site i remember..
[03:06:27] <ccfan4326> he hung out on irc and played a lot and wasn't stupid, so that's probably what lead to him becoming admin, i don't remember the specifics
[03:06:54] <ccfan4326> i don't remember when exactly things turned bad between us and beanyhead
[03:07:17] <ccfan4326> but yeah, he didn't like us and came on and spammed goatse links

And then gb987 posted and all was good, the end.

There, now if cc will fill in the gap between maikels posts and this it's all done. :P

That's when sport was a sport, and groovin' was groovin'. And dancing meant everything. We were young and we were improvin'. Laugin' laughin' with our friends. Holding hands meant something, baby. Outside the club, cherry bomb where our hearts were really thumpin'. Say yeah yeah yeah.

lol @ the goatse part. ;)

Do you remember the first iteration of Dragonade? Cruddy primitive form of weapon dropping that had the side effect of causing you to randomly "drop" your pistol when you respawned. And then there were the posted screenshots showing this bug from the Pits server I think. And we (namely I) freaked out and that ended up resulting in horrible relations between "us" and "them." Oh what joyous and gay times those proved to be. :P

I remember cc's 10 player server. It was empty a lot. Back in the days before there were really any mods to the game, and I think 24 players was the big wow factor. Heck, we didn't even have flying vehicles yet!

Ah...fond memories...I started back in '04, Punk got me on, my best memory was when I played my first game and flipped a mammy over a bridge...I was on TS and Batulsi, and Echos and others were like, "LOLOL, some effing noob just flipped a mammy!" I casually remained quiet.
