Dragonade and DragonServ / Domination Game Mode

Objective
The objective in Domination is to capture and hold objects called nodes. As you hold nodes your team gains points which are displayed as the team score. The first team to reach 1000 points wins. Player score remains unchanged.


Nodes
There are two types of nodes which give different benefits when captured.

Control Nodes
Control Nodes are the main objective of domination, giving their team 5 points every 10 seconds and a spawn point while held.

Half Captured Neutral Control Node


Tiberium Nodes
Tiberium Nodes are a secondary objective of domination, giving their team 7 credits every 3 seconds while held.

Capturing Nodes
The health bar of nodes displays their capture status. You capture nodes by standing near them, which will increase their health. The exact rate at which it captures will depend on how many attacking and defending players are within range, more attacking players will cause it to increase, more defending players will cause it to decrease, and it will remain the same if there are equal numbers. When the node's health reaches maximum it is captured and will switch to the attacking team. Players will be awarded with points, veteran points, and a full refill for capturing nodes.

As you can see in the above screenshots nodes will have an icon above them signifying their team. They will also show up on radar as stars.

Spawning
Domination utilizes a completely new spawning system unlike anything previously seen in Renegade. Each team has a home base that they will always own and spawn at if they control no other spawn points. Each Control Node also has a spawn point associated with it that the team that owns it can spawn at.

When you die or join the game you will be presented with the Purchase Terminal screen and asked to select a spawn character. Once selected you will spawn at the closest Control Node owned by your team, or your team's home base if you own no nodes or just joined the game. There is a 5 second spawn timer when spawning at an uncontested node or your team's home base, and a 10 second spawn timer when spawning at a contested node.

There are currently 7 singleplayer and 1 multiplayer maps setup for Domination.

Battle inside and around a Hand of Nod with 5 Control and 3 Tiberium Nodes. Small map with close quarters fighting and limited money.

Large multi-leveled indoor map on a Nod cargo ship. 5 Control and 3 Tiberium Nodes.

Fight for control of Raveshaw's Chateau with 6 Control and 5 Tiberium Nodes. Close quarters map with lots of nodes and multi-level fighting.

Battle inside the walls of a Nod prison complex with 6 Control and 4 Tiberium Nodes. Large map with a mix of outdoor combat and indoor combat inside its many small buildings.
Some may remember this as the first singleplayer map used in the Deathmatch game mode, marking the first time a singleplayer map was ever used in a multiplayer game mode.

M10
Takes place in a Nod base with 5 Control and 4 Tiberium Nodes. Large, mainly outdoor map with vehicles allowed. When you purchase a vehicle it will be dropped off at your team's home base.

Glacier
Domination point system combined with the normal AOW spawning and purchase systems. 8 Control Nodes.

Unit Changes
A few units have been changed or replaced to better balance the game mode.

Stealth Black Hand
Replaced with a Black Hand Rocket Soldier. Functionally identical to Gunner.

Stealth Tank
Replaced with the Recon Bike. Weak unit, but good for quickly attacking nodes.

Beacons
Replaced with Remote C4.


Overview
Domination was designed to have a new style of gameplay while retaining as much of the things that make Renegade unique, such as the character classes and purchase system, as possible. Singleplayer maps were used since they're more suited to this type of gameplay than most multiplayer maps.


Note: All numbers here, such as point gain and spawn time, are subject to balance changes.

I've been working on a new gamemode and we'll be playing a few rounds of that in addition to the normal AOW maps. More information on this new gamemode will be coming soon.

BunkersTS and Conquest Winter will be in the rotation. You can download them below or let the resource downloader handle it when you join the server. Note that the resource downloader is a bit weird and will say you're downloading a different map when you join; ignore this.

C&C: Renegade Servers / Discussion about the next reunion game

I know quite a few people couldn't make it this week. What time would be better for you? Sunday, later Saturday, something else?

For teams I want to do it like this:
Passworded server, we'll join on a setup map. If you want to be with certain people make a squad. I'll remix the teams with the !remix command and if everyone is happy those will be the teams for the rest of the game. Each team will have its own TS channel.

I want to have BunkersTS and Conquest Winter in the rotation. I don't think we ever had another map in long enough to bother with.

Squad System
Squads have been discussed a few times before, mainly revolving around gameplay changing ideas like spawning on the squad leader, perks when squad members are together, and special abilities. I never quite liked these ideas as it could make experienced players too powerful while new players wouldn't know what was going on. So when I decided to revisit the squad idea I went with a different approach: information and making it easier for friends to play together.

To this end squads will have three main features:
  • Your squad mates will show up on the radar as stars at any range. They will be green if they're infantry, light blue if they're driving a vehicle, and dark blue if they're a passenger in a vehicle.
  • All players in your squad will have a # in front of their names.
  • As long as it doesn't imbalance the teams all members of a squad will be on the same team when a new map starts.

The following are the commands that can be used to manage a squad:
  • !squads: Lists all the squads and their members.
  • !invite: Invites the specified players to your squad. A squad will be created if you're not already in one. You can invite players on the opposite team in which case they will be put on a wait list and automatically join your squad next game or when they !rtc. Squad leader only.
  • !join: Requests to join the specified player's squad.
  • !accept: Accepts a squad invitation if you're not in a squad, or accepts a join request if you're a squad leader.
  • !decline: Declines a squad invitation if you're not in a squad, or declines a join request if you're a squad leader.
  • !skick: Removes the specified players from your squad and wait list. Squad leader only.
  • !disband: Disbands your squad. Squad leader only.
  • !promote: Promotes the given player to squad leader. Squad leader only.
  • !leave: Leave your squad.
  • !sinfo Lists the players, and their character/vehicle, in your squad.
  • !sc: Squad chat, sends a message to your squad.

Squads will be limited to five players, or half the current players ingame if there are less than five players.

Remix
The new team remixer will keep squad members together while matching multiple squads against each other. A single squad will be put on a random team, two squads will be put on opposite teams, and three or more squads will be teamed to have the most balanced number of squaded players on each team.
A few examples:
If there is a three player squad, a two player squad, and a five player squad the teams will always be the two player and three player squads against the five player squads.
If there are four five player squads then the teams will be two five player squads VS two five player squads.
If there are two four player squads and a three player squad the teams will be one of the four player squads VS the three player squad and the other four player squad.
Players will be removed from squads to keep the teams balanced if necessary.
